On-Air Staff
Brad Blanks
Just before the Sydney 2000 Olympics a tall sweaty Australian man named Brad Blanks stormed the PLJ studios wanting to be Scott and Todd’s Olympic correspondent!
Scott and Todd conducted an on-air job interview:
“Do you have any experience in broadcasting?” ... “No”
“Do you have any experience in TV?” .... “No”
“Do you have any experience in radio?” .... “No”
.... Scott and Todd answered, “Perfect! You’re hired!”
With those words Brad Blanks was off running as Scott and Todd’s international correspondent.
Blanks ability to get inside a story and find absurdity has lead him to the worlds biggest events for Scott and Todd; conversed with the French at the Cannes Film Festival, he’s sat courtside at the Wimbledon final, drank beer with Oscar winning director Peter Jackson at the Oscars, partied with Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion, celebrated with Michael Phelps at the Athens Olympics, lost his clothes at the Kentucky Derby, discussed pop music with Simon Cowell at the finale of American Idol finale.
In his first year Brad struggled to get celebrities to talk to him so he had to settle for koala bears, Mexican horse handlers, and wild pig hunters. Through sheer tenacity Blanks broke into the Hollywood system and has interviewed over 500 celebrities. From Tom Cruise to Angelina Jolie, Blanks has asked them all the goofy questions.
While mastering the interview about nothing Blanks has also risen to any challenge that Scott and Todd have thrown his way. He has rowed a boat across the Long Island Sound, covered his whole body with mustard, ridden a clown bike to Jersey, bounced a trampoline eating eggs while dressed as a pink bunny rabbit, had meatballs thrown at him, stuck 500 band-aids on his torso, laid in a small box filled with garlic shrimp, dressed in orange speedos while having spam flicked at him, lived in a shopping mall and amazingly walked to the Turtle Back Zoo dressed as a giant penguin.
A bloke who somehow finds himself at the center of world events, Brad Blanks has forged ahead as Scott and Todd’s number one reporter. Although he might not get to the root of the story he will have a darn good time trying!
